This page will provide links to LaTeX resorces so that our students can create theses, dissertations, and paper manuscripts in LaTeX without too much difficulty.

For MS Thesis

You will want to download the MS thesis class file, a sample thesis, a sample bibliography file, and a sample figure.

For SPE Papers

I have included some LaTeX material to assist in the preparation of papers for the proceedings at the annual meeting (two column) and for preparation of manuscripts for later journal publication (single column, double spaced).

SPE_temp.tex

This is a bare bones sample SPE paper that can be modified easily.

SPE.sty

This is the style file for creating the single column, double spaced, manuscript. It still requires a bit of manual markup of the tex file.

SPEman.sty

This is the style file for creating the single column, double spaced, manuscript. It still requires a bit of manual markup of the tex file.

spe.bst

Lincoln Paterson at CSIRO contributed this file for formatting references correctly in SPE style.

Other

In general, if you find that you need a style or class file for LaTeX, it is probably best to go to the CTAN site to ensure that you get the most recent version. I have, however, placed a few style files that we use regularly, or that are needed for the dissertation and thesis class here.

secsty.sty

A style file that modifies the sectioning commands. I used it in the utulsa thesis class.

ulem.sty

Allows longer sections of text to be underlined. Used in the utulsa. thesis style.

vmargin.sty

A nice package for setting margins.

Petroleum Abstract
The Petroleum Abstracts service provides information products and services to the global petroleum exploration and production industry. It is a division of the University of Tulsa.

Society of Petroleum Engineers
The Society of Petroleum Engineers is the primary technical/professional society for engineers in the petroleum industry. The website contains a searchable data base of technical papers, career information, and calendars of upcoming events.


Oil and Gas Exploration and Production
PetroPortfolio Ltd. is mainly engaged in oil and gas exploration and production business. It is focused primarily on the exploration segment of the upstream sectors.
